ZooNation Dance Company was founded in London in 2002 by director and choreographer, Kate Prince. ZooNation became a Resident Company at Sadler’s Wells.
After gaining a coveted position at The Place’s Hothouse course in 2005, ZooNation was able to develop the idea for its first full length show, Into the Hoods. Sadler’s Wells commissioned Into the Hoods and it was performed for the first time at the Peacock Theatre in February 2006.
The company’s main focus is creating pieces of full-length narrative Hip Hop Dance Theatre including the award-winning West End show Into the Hoods and Some Like it Hip Hop, Zoonation: Unplugged at Sadlet’s Wells main house and Groove On Down The Road at the Southbank Centre. The most recent performance was a return of The Mad Hatter’s Tea Party at London’s iconic Roundhouse Theatre’
Workshop to be taught by Mikey Ureta
Mikey is a 20 year old Choreographer/Dancer based in London. He has spent over 5 years training at ZooNation Dance Company, as well as working with other companies such as Definitives, A-Team and Boy Blue Entertainment.
He teaches regularly around the UK and has held weekly slots at Pineapple Dance Studios, iA Studios and Studio 68.
He has judged at many regional competitions as well as dance weekenders throughout the year.
He has been involved in many productions as a Performer/Dance Captain/Choreographer in theatres such as the Royal Opera House, Queen Elizabeth Hall (Southbank Centre) and the Barbican.
Mikey also co-founded Boyband Dance Crew - they reached the finals of Sky1's Got To Dance 2014 and Britain's Got Talent 2015.
